(WASHINGTON, DC) – North Dakota Senator Kevin Cramer says he’s supporting President-elect Donald Trump’s pick for Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth.
Rumors have been surfacing that Trump is potentially searching for an alternate to Hegseth, amid controversy over an alleged sexual assault of a woman in California in 2017, along with reported issues regarding alcohol use.
“I give him the benefit of the doubt,” Cramer said in remarks Wednesday. “I am ready to be supportive of getting him to that point. I am ready to get him in front of the committee.”
Cramer said he ‘sees no reason, at this point, to not be supportive of him.’
Hegseth met with Cramer earlier today.

"Commitment I was looking for is that he won't drink. He won't touch alcohol. And that he'd be ready for a phone call at three in the afternoon or three in the morning and every hour in between… I see no reason not to support him"
