Crash leads to power outage near Northwood, N.D.

GRAND FORKS CO., N.D. – Drivers of two vehicles were hurt after striking a power pole which led to a power outage in Grand Forks County.

Around 7:30 Thursday morning, the Highway Patrol responded to the intersection of 34th Street and 1st Street Northeast about four miles south of Northwood.

Authorities say a pickup driven by a 31-year-old Hatton man didn’t stop at a stop sign and struck another pickup driven by a 53-year-old Northwood man.

Both vehicles went into a ditch striking a power pole.

The driver of the pickup that was struck was taken to a Northwood hospital by ambulance.

Authorities say both drivers weren’t wearing seat belts.

34th Street Northeast was closed because of an electrical line across the road but has reopened.

Nodak Electric Cooperative is working on restoring power.
