Deadline extended for North Dakota Board of Higher Education seats

(BISMARCK) – Superintendent of Public Instruction, Kirsten Baesler, says the deadline for two spots on the North Dakota State Board of Higher Education has been extended. The deadline is now 5 p.m. on December 17. The four-year terms of board members Casey Ryan and Jeffry Volk expire on June 30. Volk is eligible for a second term, while Ryan is completing his final term and is not eligible for reappointment.

Current Gov. Doug Burgum is leaving office Dec. 15. His successor’s choices for the Board of Higher Education will require confirmation by the North Dakota Senate. The new governor will have until mid-February 2025 to submit nominees to the Senate.

WDAY Radio is reaching out to Baesler to learn more about the extension of the deadline.
