Demuth: Democrats ‘skipped work’

(ST PAUL, MINN) – Minnesota House Speaker Lisa Demuth (R-Cold Spring) says Democrats in the Minnesota House are playing games.

“Our intent, obviously, we are to be sworn in yesterday, on the 14th, at noon,” she said. “That is what is prescribed by law when we meet.”

Demuth said Democrats, behind closed doors on Sunday night at the Minnesota Historical Center, took part in a caucus swearing-in. She said nobody knew about it, and members of the Republican Party were made aware via social media by a member of the media – after the swearing-in took place.

“They were serious about not showing up,” Demuth said. “They skipped work.”
