FARGO, N.D. – A SWAT team arrests an armed robbery suspect after he refused to come out of a tent near the Red River for hours.
Officers responded to a robbery on the 700 block of 7th Avenue North around 9:00 Tuesday night and another around 15 minutes later on the 100 block of 6th Avenue North. Victims from both incidents say a man broke into their home with a gun and fled. No one was hurt.
Officers found the suspect in a tent by the Red River near 2nd Street and 4th Avenue North around 11:00. They ordered the man to get out, but he refused. Officers brought in the Red River Valley Swat Team and they arrested 33-year-old Manuel Perez, Junior around 4:20 Wednesday morning on suspicion of armed robbery.
Police say a tent near the one Perez, Jr. was in caught fire and officers put it out with an extinguisher. Authorities didn’t say what caused it. No one was hurt.
