Fargo City Commission to consider adoption of Fargo Growth Plan 2024 on Monday

(FARGO) – The Fargo City Commission will consider the approval and adoption of the Fargo Growth Plan 2024 at its regular City Commission meeting on Monday.

“For the first time in nearly two decades, the City of Fargo has used the development of a new growth plan to consider and clarify the type of community it wants to become and how to achieve its goals through new or modified growth plans,” the plan’s executive summary states.

The plan says the City of Fargo has added more than 20,000 residents between 2010 and 2020 than it has during any other previous decade, thus expanding the city’s population by nearly 40 percent between 2000 and 2020.

“This rapid population growth is directly tied to the equally fast pace of job growth that Fargo has enjoyed in recent decades,” the report stated. “Growth largely attributable to Fargo’s role as a hub for health care, education, trade and finance for a vast region.”

The Commission meeting begins at 5 p.m. at Fargo City Hall.
