Fargo City Commissioner Kolpack discusses possible funding for homeless services

Interview with Fargo Deputy Mayor and City Commissioner Denise Kolpack on What’s On Your Mind with Scott Hennen

FARGO, N.D. – Fargo Deputy Mayor and City Commissioner Denise Kolpack reacts to proposals aimed to curb homelessness issues in the city.

The Fargo-Moorhead Coalition to End Homelessness says they’re reaching “crisis levels”.

The City Commission banned camping beginning March 23rd. The Coalition and United Way of Cass-Clay are coming up with plans for 30, 60 and 90 days for housing. There are also plans for a $10 million deflection center involving 30 organizations Kolpack says will hopefully be paid by money from the state, grants and private investors.

“It is bringing in partners that are already providing the services, but under one roof for a more efficient approach to managing a number of these complex issues from a variety of funding sources,” Kolpack said.

Kolpack adds there are seven homeless camps in the city which is down from 40 in 2024.
