Fargo man arrested following chase on I-29

(RICHLAND COUNTY, ND) – The North Dakota Highway Patrol assisted a South Dakota sheriff’s deputy in an across state lines chase this morning.

At approximately 12:04 a.m., a Roberts County, S.D., deputy pursued a 2008 Lincoln MKZ northbound on I-29 into Richland County. The North Dakota Highway Patrol responded and took over the chase near mile marker 37. A trooper was able to utilize a Stinger spike strip to deflate two of the vehicle’s tires near mile marker 41. A short time later, another trooper utilized a PIT maneuver to cause the vehicle to enter the median and become disabled.

The driver of the Lincoln, 40-year-old Gregory Richards, of Fargo, was taken into custody and transported to the Richland County Jail. He’s facing charges of felony fleeing (second offense in three years), along with misdemeanor driving under the influence-drugs, driving under suspension (fourth offense in five years) and reckless endangerment.

A female passenger was not arrested and was transported to a Fargo residence.

Charges are pending in Roberts County.
