Fargo School Board finalists named

(FARGO, ND) – The Fargo School Board has announced three finalists for Superintendent of Schools.

The successful candidate will succeed Dr. Rupak Gandhi, who announced that he will step aside from leading Fargo Public Schools at the end of the school year.

The finalists include:

  • Vincent Williams, assistant superintendent for secondary schools at West Fargo Public Schools, a position he’s held since 2021;
  • Cory Steiner, currently the superintendent at Northern Cass Public Schools, a position he’s held since 2014; and
  • Robert Lech, currently the superintendent at Jamestown Public Schools, a position he’s held since 2013.

The finalists will be interviewed by the Board of Education and will also be interviewed throughout the day by administrators, community members, support staff members, and educators.

Williams will be interviewed on Tuesday, February 25; Dr. Steiner on Wednesday, February 26; and Dr. Lech on Thursday, February 27.

The Fargo Board of Education will meet in special session on Friday, February 28 at 8:30 a.m. in the District Office Board Room to discuss the finalist interviews and select an individual to offer a contract to be the District’s next superintendent of schools.
