FargoDome Authority President says new plan to be studied in 2025

(FARGO, ND) – Voters overwhelmingly rejected a proposal that would have added a quarter-cent sales tax to help make improvements to the FargoDome last night.

“The results that came about weren’t in favor of what we wanted at this time right now, but it wasn’t for lack of effort,” FargoDome Authority President David Suppes said in a press conference Wednesday morning.

He said there was not a Plan B studied, but that’s changing.

“Given the results, we will be looking at a Plan B,” Suppes said. The group will not begin looking at the next steps until after the new year.

Fargo Mayor Dr. Tim Mahoney said the City remains ‘committed to exploring options’ when it comes to maintaining and improving the FargoDome.

“Moving forward, we will continue engaging the community to find ways to keep the FargoDome a valuable and welcoming venue,” he said.

Mahoney said he’s disappointed in the results of the vote.
