FARGO, N.D. – Fargo-based Fieldstone Group announced Monday that it has finalized a news partnership agreement with Valley News Live.
The partnership will provide for a simulcast of Valley News Live’s evening TV newscasts between 5:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on WDAY Radio and both parties are exploring other connections between the respective parties’ newsrooms.
“We’ve known Ike and his team at Valley News Live for years and are proud to join forces with them,” said Steve Hallstrom, President and Managing Partner of Fieldstone Group. “There are great possibilities ahead as we begin simulcasting this evening, and we look forward to a great partnership that will allow both our newsrooms to benefit in the days to come.”
The agreement comes following the official change of ownership, with Fieldstone Group purchasing WDAY Radio from Forum Communications in February.
“We thank the Marcil Family and the leaders and staff of Forum Communications and WDAY TV for a great partnership these last four years,” added Hallstrom. “We wish them every success in the days ahead.”
“Today is the culmination of a partnership that we hoped we could be a part of. We couldn’t ask for a better group to be working with and we here at Valley News Live are excited to see where this takes both companies,” Valley News Live General Manager Ike Walker commented.
The purchase of WDAY Radio gives Fieldstone Group a second broadcast property in the Metro area, joining WZFG “The Flag” at AM 1100 / FM 92.3. The company also owns KTGO “The Flag” in Tioga, ND at AM 1090 and FM 92.7, three stations in Grand Rapids, Minnesota; KOZY 1320 AM / 93.1 FM, KMFY 96.9 FM and KBAJ 105.5 FM, and a Watford City-based newspaper, The McKenzie County Farmer. The company also provides digital and video-based marketing services through its Fieldstone Group consulting arm.
WDAY Radio celebrated its 100th year of broadcasting in 2022.
