(PIERRE, SD) – Governor Larry Rhoden says fireworks are coming back to Mount Rushmore.
The new South Dakota governor said that he had a call Friday with Interior Secretary Doug Burgum.
“He confirmed that we will have FIREWORKS at Mount Rushmore for America’s 250th birthday,” Rhoden wrote in a post on X.
In early February, he also announced that President Donald Trump was invited to the celebration in a letter, saying “I write to invite you to a spectacular celebration that South Dakota intends to hold to honor America’s 250th Birthday.”
There’s no word on if Trump has accepted the invitation.
