Flanagan officially announces run for U.S. Senate

(ST PAUL, MINN) – Minnesota Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan is running for the United States Senate.

In a post on her social media, the Minnesota Democrat reflected on her family’s reliance on government assistance programs.

“My lived experience has informed my belief that we should wrap our arms around our neighbors in need,” she wrote. “That’s why on the school board, in the state house, and as lieutenant governor, I’ve championed kitchen-table issues like raising the minimum wage, paid family and medical leave, and free school meals.”

Flanagan’s announcement comes days after Tina Smith said she will not run for reelection in 2026. Smith has served in the role since 2018.
