(BEMIDJI, MINN) — A nurse at the Beltrami County Jail is facing charges after the death of an inmate.
Court documents released Friday say Michelle Skroch failed to properly care for Hardell Sherell, who died in September 2018. The complaint asserts that Skroch failed to perform “the most basic nursing care” and did not take Mr. Sherrell’s vitals for two days, despite “objective evidence” of Mr. Sherrell’s medical distress after he returned from the emergency room. Her nurses license has been revoked.
If found guilty, she faces a maximum of 30 years in prison, fines up to $40,000 or both.
