Former Emerado City Auditor charged with stealing more than $115,000

(EMERADO) – A former Emerado City Auditor has pled guilty to charges she stole more than $100,000 from the city during her employment. According to court documents, Wendy Sullivan has been charged with two Class A felony charges – theft of property and misapplication of entrusted property.

Court documents say that the North Dakota Bureau of Investigation was alerted to the theft and misapplication of entrusted property by Emerado Police Chief Dan Lund in April 2022. After a thorough investigation, it was determined that Wendy Sullivan, who was employed as the City’s auditor from March 2019 until March 2022, had been compensated, in addition to her budgeted salary, an extra $89,575.34. In addition to the overpayment in annual salary, several debit transaction and a Sam’s Club transaction, the total amount Sullivan stole was $115,613.58.

She pled guilty in court earlier this week, and a sentencing date has been set for November 22 in front of Judge Kristi Venhuizen.
