Government workers push back on Governor Walz’s return to office mandate

MINNESOTA – Minnesota legislators and union members are pushing back on Governor Tim Walz’s plan for thousands of state employees to return to the office.

The governor notified government workers starting June 1 at least half of their shifts will have to be in person.

DFL State Representative Luke Frederick of Mankato says workers are angry and are threatening to quit.

Minnesota Association of Public Employees President Megan Dayton says union members were taken by surprise by Walz’s directive.

The unions plan to use an appeal process as a part of their collective bargaining agreements.
