(GRAND FORKS, ND) – A 53-year-old Grand Forks man was arrested and charged with multiple offenses following a pursuit last night.
At just after 6 p.m., officers with the Grand Forks Police Department were dispatched to the I-29 southbound on-ramp at Demers Avenue for a motorist assist. It was reported that a vehicle was pulled off to the side of the road and was partially blocking the southbound lane.
Responding officers located the vehicle, a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee, with a male subject appearing to be sleeping in the driver’s seat. Officers were able to wake the driver up, and it was believed that he was under the influence. The male subject fled the scene southbound, starting a pursuit.
Officers continued the pursuit to the 32nd Avenue South exit, where the suspect came to a stop along the southbound on-ramp after crossing travel lanes.
The driver was taken into custody without further incident and has been identified as Marlin Lee Johnson of Grand Forks. He faces charges of fleeing, reckless endangerment, DUI, DUI refusal and driving under suspension.
