Hoeven, Cramer react to Senate confirmation of Pam Bondi as U.S. Attorney General

(WASHINGTON, DC) – Former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi is the newest U.S. Attorney General.

Behind a 54-46 vote, the U.S. Senate confirmed Trump’s nominee for the leader of the Department of Justice. Bondi, who served as the Attorney General in Florida from 2011 until 2019, is no stranger to Trump. She served as one of his defense lawyers in 2020 at his first impeachment trial.

“The Department of Justice has drifted from the fair, equal application of the law,” North Dakota Senator Kevin Cramer said. “Pam Bondi will right the ship and refocus the department on its law-and-order mission. I’m honored to join my colleagues in confirming her.”

Senator John Hoeven touted Bondi’s experience with the justice system.

“Pam Bondi has years of law enforcement experience, including as a prosecutor and the former attorney general of Florida,” he said. “She has committed to leading the Department of Justice with a focus on its core mission of prosecuting crime and keeping the American people safe. We look forward to working with her to improve public safety in North Dakota and across the nation.”
