Hoeven, Daines place friendly wager ahead of FCS National Championship between NDSU, Montana State

(BISMARCK, ND) – It’s become somewhat of a tradition.

In a post on X Friday, North Dakota Senator John Hoeven, clad in blaze orange hunting gear, placed a ‘friendly wager’ with Montana Senator Steve Daines.

“Well, we’re out here doing a little hunting,” Hoeven said in the video, which has been seen more than 10,000 times. “Steve Daines and I have a bet on the big game. So, we’ve been looking for bobcat. We didn’t see bobcat. We’ve seen some jackrabbits, a.k.a South Dakota; I think a coyote, he was a ways away, a little hard to see, went by pretty quick. But they’d be South Dakota.”

Daines responded to Hoeven’s wager.

“John Hoeven, you’re on. The cats are undefeated, and we’re fired up to be back in Frisco, Texas, this year,” he said in a clip posted on X. “You know, those steaks for the winner sounds like a great idea. I can’t wait to try your North Dakota Bison steaks. Remember, my Bobcats already took care of the South Dakota Coyotes last week, and the Bison are next.”

Second seeded NDSU will take on top seed Montana State in the title game Monday night at 6 p.m. at Toyota Stadium in Frisco.
