(WASHINGTON, DC) — A House Republican is trying to get people to sign a petition to deport Congresswoman Ilhan Omar.
Omar, a Minnesota Democrat, became a U.S. citizen in 2000 after feeling Somalia’s civil war. Texas Republican Brandon Gill is circulating the petition, claiming Omar is biased toward illegal immigrants. Several Democrats have criticized Gill and the Republican party. Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal wrote on X “It’s disgusting that Republicans are attempting to raise money by threatening to deport a US citizen just because they disagree with her.”
