(FARGO, ND) – Cass County Sheriff Jesse Jahner has issued a statement after charges were filed Tuesday morning in Cass County District Court in Fargo against former deputy Darin Viken.
The six charges are all misdemeanors for disorderly conduct – harassment. Six no contact orders have been requested. The Cass County Clerk of Court says no probable cause affidavit has been filed yet.
“I was made aware of the alleged charges against Former Employee Darin Viken this morning,” Sheriff Jesse Jahner said in a statement posted to the Sheriff’s Department’s Facebook page Tuesday afternoon. “I was both disheartened and angered but also had a sense of closure. We terminated Darin back in July 2024 and as the investigation continued for several months thereafter it was hard on our staff, other area law enforcement, victims, and our community.”
Jahner said Viken ‘betrayed our organization, our community, the law enforcement profession and impacted a number of lives negatively through his alleged activity.’
“Although he is innocent until proven guilty his alleged conduct does not represent our staff and the law enforcement profession as a whole,” he said. “He betrayed our trust, the communities trust and tarnished the oath each of us take as law enforcement officers to protect and serve our citizens. If the allegations are accurate, I hope that justice will be served for the victims through the court process.”
