(GRAND FORKS, ND) – A jury has found a Minot woman not guilty of the 2007 murder of her college roommate.
The jury took just over five hours to deliberate before reaching a verdict in the case against Nichole Rice, ending eight days after the trial began. If convicted, she would have faced a maximum sentence of life in prison without parole for the 2007 death of her then-roommate, Anita Knutson, in Minot.
Defense attorney Bill Sand declined to comment to a pool reporter outside the Grand Forks District Courthouse following the reading of the verdict.
