Legislation would allow sale of blackout plates in N.D.

(BISMARCK, ND) – Legislation proposed would allow the sale of blackout number plates in North Dakota.

Senate Bill 2133, introduced by Senator Kristin Roers of Fargo, would allow the sale for $15, with an annual payment of $25 for a personalized plate.

Minnesota passed a similar law and saw more than a quarter-million of the plates sold in the first year. Minnesota officials expected only 160,000 plates to sell in the first year.

The Senate Transportation Committee will hold a hearing on the bill later this week.
