(Grand Forks, ND) — A preliminary design for the new 42nd Street underpass has been selected by the Grand Forks City Council.
The council recently picked “design B1” out of five proposed designs that were presented. The B1 design would re-configure the intersection at the location in question, which has the lowest cost and would allow for better traffic flow between 42nd Street and DeMers Avenue. The design will next go to the North Dakota Department of Transportation and Federal Highway Administration for final approval.
If approved, construction could begin in spring of 2027.
