(Washington, DC) – A Fargo Police officer received the TOP COPS Award during the National Association of Police Organization’s 31st annual TOP COPS award ceremony in Washington, DC.
Zachary Robinson was recognized at the event, which is a part of National Police Week. He was the officer that ended the ambush of Fargo Police officers on July 14, when a suspect fatally shot officer Jake Wallin, and injured officers Andrew Dotas and Tyler Hawes, along with a citizen.
“Officer Robinson’s heroic actions on July 14, 2023, was selected as one of the top ten cases in the nation out of hundreds of nominations received from across the 50 states and U.S. territories,” Fargo Police wrote in a social media post.” Tonight, Officer Robinson humbly stood among his peers in Washington D.C. and received this award. His exceptional bravery in the face of extreme danger truly exemplified the values of the policing profession and The Fargo Police Department.”
