Troopers release identity of Nebraska man struck by train in Casselton

(Casselton, ND) — The North Dakota Highway Patrol is identifying a Nebraska man who’s vehicle was struck by a train this week.

Authorities say John Bauer (43m, Omaha, Nebraska) was traveling southbound near Casselton and attempted to cross railroad tracks as a train was traveling westbound. The train struck the vehicle, which left the roadway and came to rest in a ditch. Bauer was seriously injured in the crash and taken to a Fargo hospital.

Bauer is facing multiple charges, including distracted driving, DUI, open container, and more.
