(FARGO) — The Fargo Police Department will be moving forward with the purchase of the Flock Safety technology system from Flock Group Inc. The Fargo City Commission voted 4-1 in favor of the purchase, which will be made using $16,750 from seized assets. The technology, according to Captain Bill Ahlfeldt, has many features and positives about it — including taking bias out of crime solving.
Commissioner John Strand said the system is a positive. Commissioner Dave Piepkorn said now is ‘not the right time to be doing this,’ speaking to the current financial challenges facing the City of Fargo.
Piepkorn casted the lone dissenting vote.
