Moorhead schools lose SRO’s due to police department staffing shortage

MOORHEAD, MN — Moorhead Public Schools will not have school resource officers going into the 2024 / 2025 school year, due to a shortage from the city’s police department.

The district will continue to have nine private security officers, and officers will continue to respond to emergencies and incidents.  The Moorhead Police Department says they have multiple positions which need to be filled, and are not receiving near the number of applicants they have seen in previous decades.

WDAY Radio is continuing to follow this developing story.
