Mahoney: ‘Good buy-in’ on discussion regarding regional community service center to address homelessness

(FARGO, ND) – Fargo Mayor Dr. Tim Mahoney is floating around the idea of a regional Community Service Center to aid those suffering from homelessness in finding permanent solutions for housing.

He’s been visiting with fellow leaders across the region about potentially supporting a center.

“They’d kind of like to see the concept of what we want to do,” Mahoney said. “And then we’ll go down, sit down and see how they can support.”

He says there has been ‘good buy-in’ as far as discussion goes.

“They all recognize that throughout the county, throughout their cities, people are coming to our area, the Fargo area basically, for many services,” Mahoney said. “Many of them do say, ‘How can we help, Tim?’”

The effort would be collaborative. Services like psychological, medical and addiction would be among those offered at the center.

As far as housing, the City of Fargo would be the ones working on that situation.
