(HORACE, ND) – One person was injured when a handgun was unintentionally discharged Friday night in Horace.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office, along with area first responders, were dispatched to Horace after 10 p.m. on a report of a male who had fired their handgun and was injured. Deputies learned a bullet struck the individual handling the firearm. The individual told officers that he had forgotten to clear the weapon prior to cleaning it.
Authorities say that, despite his injuries, the male was able to provide first aid to himself while awaiting the arrival of medical personnel and law enforcement on the scene. He was transported to an area hospital via ambulance, and his condition is not known.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation is active and ongoing, and no further information is available at this time.
