Minnesota Democrats could boycott House session

(ST PAUL, MINN) – DFL lawmakers could boycott the start of the next session of the Minnesota House.

House Speaker-designate Melissa Hortman says her party is upset that Republicans have no plans to honor a power-sharing agreement reached after the November election.  Republicans will start the session with a one-seat majority in the House, though that advantage is likely to end after a special election for the District 40-B House seat.  Hortman confirmed Monday that the DFL plans to use “all parliamentary tactics available” to keep Republicans from enacting their agenda.

That includes a possible boycott at the start of the session to keep the House from having a quorum.
