(ST. PAUL, MINN) – A group created by the Minnesota legislature to advise it on the issues associated with the legalization of psychedelic medicine says the legislature should create a state-regulated clinical program for the therapeutic administration of psilocybin-containing mushrooms.
That was one of three recommendations made by the Minnesota Psychedelic Medicine Task Force in a legislative report released on January 1.
The group also recommends the legislature remove criminal penalties for the personal use and possession of psilocybin-containing mushrooms and allocate funding for more research into the health benefits of psilocybin, MDMA and LSD.
“The national landscape regarding psychedelic medicine is rapidly evolving,” the group’s report said.
