(ST PAUL, MINN) — Representatives Kristin Robbins (R-Maple Grove) and Jeff Backer (R-Browns Valley are reacting after resignation of the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) Commissioner, Jodi Harpstead, citing ongoing challenges and calls for stronger accountability within the department.
Both Representatives highlighted the need for bipartisan efforts to ensure DHS operates efficiently and responsibly for the benefit of Minnesota families.
The resignation comes amid increasing scrutiny of the agency’s performance and calls from lawmakers for greater oversight. Rep. Robbins has advocated for accountability in state agencies and will continue to push for reforms in her role as Chair of the newly created Committee on Fraud and Oversight to enhance transparency and protect taxpayer dollars from fraud and abuse. Backer, on the other hand, who is the Chair of the Health Finance and Policy Committee, will be working to ensure proper oversights are built into future legislation regarding the Department of Human Services.
