Minnesota State University Moorhead student found dead identified

(MOORHEAD, MINN) – Minnesota State University Moorhead President Dr. Tim Downs has confirmed the identity of the person found dead last week.

In an e-mail to the campus community, Downs said third-year Computer Science major Lawrence Nwaokorie was found unresponsive in his room on November 13. Nwaokorie was from Brooklyn Park, Minn.

Friends are planning a candlelight vigil in remembrance of Nwaokorie. It’ll be held tomorrow (Sunday) from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Comstock Memorial Union’s Sun Garden Lounge. All are welcome, and those attending are asked to consider wearing yellow or purple, Nwaokorie’s favorite colors.

University spokeswoman Kristi Monson says the investigation is still active, and is being handled by the Moorhead Police Department.
