MINNESOTA – The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is looking to make changes to the state’s bear hunting permit boundaries.
The agency says it’s a good time to expand the boundaries because bears are making homes in areas of concern.
The DNR says there have been relatively few changes to Minnesota’s bear permit area boundaries since the early 1990s. At that time, bears did not have the same geographic distribution in the state as they do now.
The DNR wants Becker, Mahnomen, Clearwater, Pennington, Mille Lacs, and Morrison Counties added to the bear hunting permit boundaries.
More information can be found at the DNR’s bear management webpage.
Comments on bear hunting permit boundaries can be submitted through March 17 by clicking here, emailing DNR Large Carnivore Specialist Dan Stark, or sending a letter to Kelly Wilder at the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources – FAW 500 Lafayette Road, Saint Paul, MN 55155.
There will also be a webinar on the DNR’s plans March 4 from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. Click here for more information.
