MINNEAPOLIS, MN — A journalist who was hit in the eye with a police projectile while covering the unrest following George Floyd’s murder in Minneapolis is now receiving end-of-life care as a result of that injury.
42-year old Linda Tirado suffered a traumatic brain injury and corresponding dementia. Despite her challenges, she believes her case has helped pave the way for press freedom and says she would do it again to tell the story, even though it came at a high personal cost.
The city has paid nearly $10 Million in settlements for officer misconduct during the riots, $600,000 of it went to Tirado.
