MN Nursing Homes Sue State Over Mandated Holiday Pay

MINNESOTA – Two nursing home providers sue a state agency over new rules mandating overtime pay on state holidays.

The lawsuit was filed in federal court by LeadingAge Minnesota and Care Providers of Minnesota.

The providers say the rule requiring time-and-a-half for work on 11 state holidays violates collective bargaining rules by overriding existing employment contracts. They are seeking an injunction to keep the law from going into effect January 1st.
