(BISMARCK, ND) — Senator Todd Beard introduced a bill last week aimed at permanently shutting down cloud seeding.
The practice involves sending silver iodide and dry ice into seedable clouds to promote rainfall. Senate Bill 2106 would prohibit the use of weather modification, as well as making it a class B misdemeanor. Northwest North Dakota farmers joined Beard in testifying, saying it weakens storm systems and that they haven’t seen any benefits to it.
