Burgum: “It's election interference and it's tying up the president from being out on the campaign trail”

(New York, NY) – North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum joined several Donald Trump allies, including Speaker Mike Johnson and former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamay on Tuesday morning at Trump’s hush money trial in New York.

In a press briefing held outside the courthouse, Burgum called the trial a ‘sham trial.’

“When you have an opportunity to see it up close in personal, you can see it’s actually a scam trial,” he said. “When you’ve got a judge that’s a donor to Biden, you’ve got prosecutors that are supporters of Biden, and then you’ve got relatives of the judge that are benefiting financially directly from this trial and that information. And then the star witness is a serial perjurer. Then you have to ask yourself, what is this all about? And I think the only conclusion, of course, is it’s election interference and it’s tying up the president from being out on the campaign trail.”

Burgum pointed to the latest polls from both the New York Times and Rasmussen Interactive, showing that Trump leads across the country.

“The conclusion you could draw from that is the American people have already acquitted Donald Trump, because the things that they’re concerned about–inflation, crime, the border, the economy, all of these things, President Trump is leading by huge double digits versus Joe Biden.”

Tuesday marked day 17 of the trial.
