ND Near Middle of the Pack in New Lung Cancer Cases

NORTH DAKOTA – North Dakota gets mixed results in the latest State of Lung Cancer report from the American Lung Association.

The state ranks 27th out of 49 in the nation for rate of new lung cancer cases. When it comes to early diagnosis, North Dakota ranks 8th out of 47 with just over 30 percent of cases diagnosed at an early stage. On the national level, 27 point four percent of cases are caught early when survival rates are much higher.

The report also found that North Dakota’s Indigenous people are most likely to be diagnosed with lung cancer.
