ND State Rep. to propose property tax bill if measure 4 fails

(NORTH DAKOTA) – A North Dakota State Representative plans to re-introduce a bill to reduce property taxes if measure four fails.

The measure would eliminate assessment-based property taxes.

Last session Republican Rep. Scott Louser of Minot proposed a bill where the state would buy out the remaining and mandated 60 mills for Kindergarten through 12th grade funding on property taxes. All other mills stay local. The bill would also give a per pupil increase of four percent a year for school districts.

Louser explained the bill this morning on What’s On Your Mind with Scott Hennen. Click here to listen to the entire interview.
