BISMARCK, N.D. – The North Dakota Supreme Court is hearing arguments to reinstate the abortion ban.
Last September, a federal judge in Bismarck signed an order repealing the ban claiming it infringed on a woman’s fundamental rights to liberty.
Thursday, the state Supreme Court heard oral arguments to appeal the judge’s ruling. A States attorney is arguing North Dakota’s constitution defines human life as beginning at conception and their sole interest is protecting unborn lives.
There are no abortion providers in the state since Red River Women’s Clinic moved from Fargo to Moorhead in 2022.
