NDSU student’s visa has been revoked

FARGO, N.D. – A North Dakota State University student has had their visa revoked due to failing to maintain status according to a school official.

Director of Communications and Media Relations Brynn Rawlings says there has also been one Student and Exchange Visitor Information System termination. The system allows Homeland Security to maintain information on certified schools, students, Exchange Visitor Program sponsors and participants.

Rawlings adds the university wasn’t notified about the visa revocation and no students have been detained.

“We remain committed to supporting our students through this process and time of transition,” Rawlings said.

A University of Minnesota graduate student was detained earlier this month after federal officials revoked his visa because of a prior DUI conviction.

Minnesota State University Mankato officials say five international students also had their visas terminated earlier this month.
