North Dakota House defeats bill requiring law enforcement to report undocumented immigrants

(BISMARCK, ND) — The North Dakota House has defeated a bill that would require reporting illegal immigrants to U.S. Immigration Customs.

Representative Ben Koppelman says legislators felt the bill was not necessary because the state is already doing the practice of reporting illegal immigrants to authorities.

The measure failed 50-41.
