North Dakotans can receive home energy assistance from the state

(BISMARCK) — North Dakota’s Health and Human Services Department has a program available to North Dakotans to assist with costs of home energy for those with little or no income. It’s called the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, or LIHEAP.

“LIHEAP is an economic assistance program that’s aimed at helping eligible families with home heating and weatherization costs,” Rachel Schafer, director of Program Administration for the Economic Assistance Division of the North Dakota Health and Human Services.

She says there are many benefits to North Dakotans.

“Families can apply, and we can cover a portion or all of their heating bills, whether that be propane, electric, natural gas, et cetera,” Schafer said.
