North Dakota’s unemployment rate rises slightly

(BISMARCK, ND) — Unemployment rose slightly in North Dakota in January, but remains smaller than the national jobless rate.

According to data released by Job Service North Dakota, the rate without seasonal adjustments came in at 3.1 percent.

That’s an increase of less than a point between December 2024 and January 2025.

The state’s rate is also almost a half-percentage point higher compared to a year ago.

The national unemployment rate for January was 4.4 percent.
