(ST PAUL, MINN) – One has been sentenced and another pleads guilty in connection with the Feeding Our Future fraud scheme.
Mukhtar Mohamed Shariff, 34, of Bloomington, has been sentenced to serve 17 years in prison for his role in the $250 million scheme that exploited a federally funded child nutrition program during the COVID-19 pandemic. He is also required to pay more than $47 million in restitution.
Ayan Farah Abukar, 43, of Savage, has pled guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. A sentencing hearing will be scheduled at a later date.
