Ontario reverses electricity tariff on Minnesota, Michigan & New York

TORONTO, On. – The premier of Ontario, Canada is putting a hold on his decision to impose 25 percent tariff on electricity exports to Minnesota, Michigan and New York.

For said the suspension of the surcharge comes after U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick agreed to renewing trade talks.

“We have both agreed, let cooler heads prevail,” Ford said.

President Donald Trump had announced he is increasing tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum to 50 percent on Wednesday in response to the electricity surcharge.
