Record-breaking day for Giving Hearts Day

(FARGO, ND) – “An incredible day.”

That’s how Dakota Medical Foundation Executive Director Pat Traynor described Giving Hearts Day. But it was also a record-breaking day for the longest day of fundraising nationwide.

By 10 p.m., officials with Giving Hearts Day announced that the previous record of $29.3 million had been defeated.

For Traynor, the success was all thanks to ‘friendraising.’

While official numbers will not be known for a few days yet, unofficially a total of $31.3 million was raised as of midnight, benefitting more than 600 charities across North Dakota and western Minnesota.

“It really means the world to all these charities,” Traynor said. “And that’s who we serve. We’re really trying to host a day that brings out the best in donors across our region and even beyond to support charities.”

More than 40,000 donors turned out for the event.
