(St. Paul, MN) — Minnesota has just become the 23rd state in the nation to legalize recreational marijuana.
Governor Tim Walz signed the bill into law Tuesday morning.
It allows people 21-and-older to have up to two pounds of cannabis at home.
It also expunges the sentences of residents convicted of low-level marijuana crimes.
The new law takes effect on August 1st.
Lawmakers say it will take over a year for the state to issue licenses for selling the drug.
